Website GoalsThis is a featured page

The Cumberland Public Library website, like the actual library building is in a state of growth and change. We are transitioning from the traditional static site that only one individual is able to make changes, to a site that is dynamic and easily changeable by a group of people. Last year this "Wiki" site was started as an experiment primarily to communicate financial needs for the library expansion and to show construction progress. But after BCLiC closed and the webmaster -Shawn Tisdell together with Lori Bock decided to try a bit more and use it as the transitional main library site. This remains transitional because we are waiting for IFLS to set up a site for Cumberland using the new Web 2.0 tools which will hopefully allow some or all of the features of this site as well as incorporating new features such as online catalog searching.

Once IFLS sets up the new site, then we will see if this Wiki is still useful and perhaps it can be used to compliment the main site, providing a less restrictive tool for interaction between Cumberland Library book lovers. While this transition is going on, why don't we spend some time thinking about what a good website for Cumberland would be? If you have opinions, please let them be known. Whoever visits this site will have the opportunity to learn what your opinions are and can share their opinions also. Just start a thread at the bottom of this page or contribute to threads already started. Just remember to respect others.

ShawnT What do you think should be on the Cumberland Library website 0 Mar 22 2009, 5:50 PM EDT by ShawnT

I think of the Cumberland library's website as a tool that extends the physical building and services it provides out into the virtual world. As more and more information is exchanged digitally, the role of the library also must change to remain relevant. I believe that the library should be the main information hub connecting people within Cumberland to Cumberland specific information as well as connecting those outside of Cumberland with info specific to Cumberland Wisconsin.
